...Lider strove through his artistic idiom to disclose the drama of a play and tackle ideological and philosophical problems raised by the playwright. The image of stage design created by the scene painter acquired an indipendant status, became an active component of the action whose mission was to outline the play's most essential motifs. This image, however, was not alienated from stage action, but on the contrary it was naturally incorporated within the context of the production to achieve an affinity of subject matter and imagery...
